Every Good Thing

"I...tend to be...busier than I should be
I...tend to think...that time is going to wait for me
Sometimes I forget...and take for granted
That it's a beautiful life we live
I don't want to miss...the moments like this
This is a beautiful life You give"

Mowing the Lawn, Sort of Like Rowing

I'll admit, I had higher hopes for today. Falling asleep last night was more difficult than I anticipated. I elected not to get up as early as I originally planned as a result. This meant I wasn't up at 5 a.m. to ride the bike before 7 a.m. Instead I got up at 6:55 a.m. to ride the bike just once - at 7 a.m. It was difficult pulling myself from under those sheets & that comforter. After struggling last night with the temperature, then having a great temperature right in my grasp, it definitely was knowing that I really had to get up right then to get on the bike which helped the most. Those cozy sheets have kept me away from my bike pedals way too many times in the past (especially the recent past).

I also had considered rowing this morning, but no, that didn't happen either. I figured I'd be watching TV at 6:30 p.m. and would row while I did that. Instead, plans changed & I wasn't even home at 6:30 p.m. to watch TV or row. No big deal. Cutting the lawn was still on the schedule. As I pushed the mower & pulled it too, I considered just how much that same movement of rowing is a part of moving that mower around. The weather had turned a bit kinder, & although it was 7 p.m. when I mowed, I found myself sweating plenty. Rowing machine or not, I was getting some work done & that was a good thing. Our mower mulches, so regardless of lawn size & pushing speed, it takes about an hour to finish the gig.

High hopes for one round of rowing & biking tomorrow morning. Tomorrow evening is kind of booked. Besides, I've got to rest up a bit for my big run on Wednesday morning, June 5. After all, that is National Running Day! Can't miss out on that!

June 3 accountability: 5K Bike at 7 a.m. (& Mowing the Lawn from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
